The U.S. Department of Agriculture wants to make sure everyone has a food-safe Thanksgiving and is offering guidelines for thawing, cooking and storing the turkey.
In the refrigerator: Leave the turkey in its original wrapper and place it on a tray to catch any juices that may leak from the package.
Bacteria in poultry juices can cross-contaminate other foods.

With the 2009 holiday season almost here, the Corpus Christi Fire Department would like to remind residents about the dangers of using turkey fryers when preparing holiday meals.

The popular chef Delia Smith has said her CBE is a "tribute to home cooks all over Britain" after being awarded the honour from the Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace.
Smith's books, including the controversial How to Cheat at Cooking, have sold more than 20 million copies worldwide, and she is also known for her vocal support of Norwich city football club.
